Meet eMalahleni’s new queen of inspiration
Lerato is set to use her new title as Miss eMalahleni High Schools Queen 2026/2027 to inspire youth, promote community development, and advocate for positive social change.
Lerato Sibisi (17) is proving that leadership, determination, and a heart for service can open doors to remarkable opportunities.
The Grade 11 learner at Bonginsimbi Comprehensive School was recently crowned Miss eMalahleni High Schools Queen 2026/2027, adding another milestone to her growing journey as a young leader, model, motivator, and beauty queen.
Lerato has become a source of inspiration to many young people in her community through her commitment to empowerment, community development, and advocacy for social change.
For Lerato, pageantry is more than beauty and crowns; it is a platform for leadership and impact.
“I entered pageantry because I wanted a platform where my voice could be heard and where I could inspire others to believe in themselves,” she said. “Many young people face challenges that make them doubt their potential, and I want to remind them that their circumstances do not determine their future.”
Lerato’s pageantry journey began in 2025 when she entered the Miss Emergent Mpumalanga competition.
Although she was new to the industry, her confidence and dedication quickly stood out, earning her the titles of first princess and Miss Public Choice.
“That experience taught me the importance of resilience and self-belief,” she said. “Winning those titles showed me that hard work, consistency, and staying true to yourself can lead to success.”
Building on that achievement, Lerato entered the Mr and Miss eMalahleni High Schools competition, where she impressed judges with her leadership qualities, confidence, and commitment to serving others.

“Receiving this crown was an incredible honour, but I see it as a responsibility rather than just an achievement,” she said. “It represents an opportunity to serve my community, inspire positive change, and be a voice for those who often feel unheard.”
Passionate about youth and women’s empowerment, addressing child oppression, and community service, Lerato believes that young people have the ability to transform society when they are given the right support and opportunities.
“I want every young person to understand that their dreams are valid,” she said. “No matter where you come from, your dedication, character, and willingness to learn can take you further than you ever imagined.”
Beyond pageantry, Lerato remains focused on her academic goals.
She aspires to become a chartered accountant while also pursuing her dream of establishing a foundation dedicated to supporting communities and various social causes across South Africa.
“My dream is to create a foundation that will uplift people, provide opportunities, and help communities overcome challenges,” she said. “I want my impact to extend far beyond the pageant stage.”
Those who know Lerato describe her as a young woman with a clear vision for the future and an unwavering commitment to helping others succeed.
Despite her growing list of achievements, she remains grounded in her belief that leadership is about service.
“A crown should never define who you are,” she said. “It should remind you of your purpose. With or without a title, I will continue to lead, motivate, and work toward creating positive change.”
As she begins her reign as Miss Emalahleni High School Queen 2026/2027, Lerato hopes to use her platform to encourage young people to pursue their goals, embrace their potential, and become active contributors to their communities.
