Group of seven carries cross for mental health

The walk focused on faith, hope, and reminding people facing challenges that they are not alone.

Seven young people carried a cross from Steve’s Place along Old Middelburg Road last Tuesday.
The walk was organised as a way to honour the sacrifice Jesus made for humanity and to raise awareness about the importance of mental health.

Jason Barham said the journey was about faith, hope, and reaching out to others who may be facing difficult times.

“We wanted to remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us and use this walk as an opportunity to remind people that they are not alone,” said Barham.

The walkers were also blessed along the way by elders who supported their mission and offered prayers for the group.

The participants later met halfway in Tasbet Park, where they gathered to pray.
“The support from the elders meant a lot. Their prayers and encouragement gave us strength to continue,” said Barham.

Following the success of the walk, Barham announced that a much bigger march is already being planned.
