The Kakarambha Foundation celebrated Mandela Day by bringing residents together for a clean-up campaign along Kiepersol Avenue.
The Kakarambha Foundation marked Mandela Day by leading a community clean-up campaign along Kiepersol Avenue, encouraging residents to take pride in their surroundings and contribute to a cleaner environment.
The July 14 initiative formed part of the worldwide 67 Minutes of Service initiative inspired by the late Nelson Mandela’s call for citizens to dedicate time to serving their communities.

Foundation volunteers spent the day collecting litter and cleaning public spaces, demonstrating the importance of environmental responsibility and community participation.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, Thando Masango said the campaign was about inspiring people to take action beyond Mandela Day. “We can all do better by taking responsibility for our environment. Small actions, such as picking up litter, can make a big difference in keeping our communities clean and healthy,” Masango said.
Masango called on residents to work alongside the municipality to maintain clean public spaces: “We urge members of the community to meet the municipality halfway by disposing of waste properly and avoiding littering. Keeping our streets clean is everyone’s responsibility, and together we can create a better environment for future generations,” Masango added.
