IEC urges eMalahleni residents to register and verify voter details

eMalahleni residents are encouraged to use the voter registration weekend to update their details and prepare for the upcoming elections.

eMalahleni residents are encouraged to verify their details ahead of the IEC voter registration weekend taking place on August 1 and 2.

Register if you are a first-time voter

Voting stations across the country will be open from 08:00 to 17:00, giving eligible citizens an opportunity to register, update their details, or confirm their voting status as election preparations continue.

Confirm your details

IEC Mpumalanga spokesperson Thanduxolo Chembeni said the registration drive is aimed at ensuring that the voters’ roll remains accurate and updated.

“The process is important for first-time voters, residents who have relocated, and anyone whose voting district may have changed,” said Chembeni.

Check your ward information

In eMalahleni, residents living in newly demarcated wards are urged to take note of changes that may affect where they vote. This includes residents in the new Ward 35, covering areas around Pine Ridge and Siyanqoba, as well as Ward 36, which includes Empumelelweni.

Residents are reminded that they must bring a valid green barcoded ID, smart ID card, or valid temporary ID document when visiting their voting station. They must be at least 16 years old to register, although voting is only allowed from the age of 18.
