Man arrested near Middelburg with 27kg of suspected stolen copper
A man arrested on the R555 is expected to appear in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court in the coming week.
A random stop and search on the R555 on Saturday, August 8, has landed a man behind bars after alleged stolen copper was found in the car he was driving.
Police stopped a white Polo Vivo and searched the trunk, where they found the copper in a plastic bag. The copper weighed 27kg, with an estimated value of more than R15 000.

Warrant Officer Nonhlanhla Mdluli confirmed the arrest, adding that the suspect was charged with possession of copper cables. The vehicle was seized along with the cables for further investigation.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court sometime this week.
