Robbers target sleeping man in Zaaihoek house robbery

A victim was left without his phone, clothes and shoes after intruders forced open his banking app during an early-morning raid.

Witbank police are investigating a house robbery after intruders stormed a Zaaihoek home and forced a sleeping resident to transfer money on his banking app.

According to police, the incident occurred on Friday, October 2 at about 01:00.

The victim was awakened by a forceful kick against his door.

Upon opening his eyes, he saw a light inside the house and was confronted by several men, though he could not determine how many were involved.

Intruders force banking app transfer

Police said the suspects demanded money before ordering him to hand over his cellphone. They forced him to open his banking app, enabling them to access money from his account.

After taking the cash, the suspects fled the scene with the victim’s cellphone, clothing, shoes and the stolen money.

Police confirmed that the door to his home sustained damage during the robbery. The victim was unharmed.

A case of house robbery is being investigated by Witbank Police Station.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in identifying or locating the suspects to come forward.
