Same old same old, or something new? We tend to stay comfortable.
As the clock counted down to 2017 I had one thought on mind: what am I doing with my life? It seemed like I was getting philosophical but in fact I think it was the inevitable reflection as the year dwindles to a close. See we tend to jump on the bandwagon either too late or just not at all when it comes to what we want to accomplish or have accomplished and then we chalk it up to ‘being busy’ or it not ‘being the right time’. I have fallen into that trap and some days you struggle to get out.
Buddy celebrated New Year’s Eve by swimming (standing on the first step of the pool) and dining on fine cuisine (people fed him pretzels and chips) whilst not having a care in the world because somehow he has enough trust in life just ‘working out’, therefore he doesn’t have to worry.
Just another reason why I say we should aspire to be more like canines because how we handle problems tend to end up like this: Haven’t been to the gym this whole year? Start in January. Wanting to go on diet and shake off some weight? Start in January. Aiming for a new position in your company? Start in January and the list goes on. Do you realise how much pressure we’re putting on January? This single month is responsible for 90% of the “New Year, New Me” promises we generate and then gets thrown aside like an old rag when we give up or fail. I am super guilty of this and that’s why I know the signs.
So if you ever feel down or wanting change then there is no time like right now, not just every January, every day is a chance for you to make an impact in your own lives or those around you. I am off to grab my towel and have a swim with Buddy, I’ll start my workout in January.
