It’s the people you have with you that make the journey so much sweeter.
Ever since I could remember I have had people around me who have shaped me and made me the man I am today. From crawling and being in diapers where my sister would fawn over me and try to play doll and dress up with me right up to the precipice of getting married in 2 days time. Everyone had their input and I continue to grow each day, just like Buddy grows around the waist because of his diet.
As I write this, Buddy is contemplating how high the kitchen cupboard is and still believes he can reach that piece of chicken. Again, like I have said before, we should aspire to be like our dogs. We should learn to love everyone and everything unconditionally and trust wholeheartedly. I sound like a Miss SA contestant ha. But above all, we should appreciate the people around us.
Too easy it has become to get instant satisfaction from a Facebook post or a Tweet with the likes rolling in that we forget to give your loved ones a call, smile at the lady who is packing your groceries, ask the car guard how his day is so far or just tell your mom and dad that you miss them. That’s why as I stand on this momentous day where I vow my life to another person, I want to thank everyone who has helped shape me along the way.
To my friends, thank you for teaching me how to laugh at myself and at the world. To my father, thank you for teaching me that music can change not only myself but the world. To my mother, thank you for supporting me selflessly every single say and giving your all for me where I cannot even begin to repay you for all you have done. To my soon to be wife, thank you for showing me that it is ok to be the way I am and have you love me for me. I can’t wait to be your husband.
So here’s to everyone you love in your life and those you don’t but most of all: Here’s to you.
