What happened on Monday at Hoërskool Reynopark was totally unacceptable. I have worked with Mr and Ms Ras as well as Mr McKenzie for five years and I’m on record saying my two teachers as well as my principal are not racist at all. What happened on Monday was actually fought inadequately on a wrong platform. Do you honestly think that if pupils conducted themselves as normal learners, would this have occurred honestly?
People must remember that Mr Ras is also a human being. When you are a principal in an institution like Reynopark, I mean you are bound to lose it once in a while. In schools in the locations you get children who are called dogs and who are discriminated against in a vital way but they do not open a case. It’s pretty blatant that in eMalahleni in particular, there are many people who are against my school. This is a conspiracy which I won’t stand for.
There is no principal who can govern and mould this school like Mr Ras did… No one! I’m not talking about something I don’t know, Mr Ras is a kind of principal who always had your back. The matric class of 2014 will agree with me. Today I have passed my matric because of him. In my entire life I haven’t worked with a professional person like Mr Ras. If Mr Ras wasn’t the principal of Hoërskool Reynopark that school would have fallen apart long ago.
I don’t need people’s approval on this one. Right about now the matric class of 2015 don’t have an English teacher, Ms Bella Ras, and she wasn’t just an English teacher but she was the best English teacher at the school.
What gives people the right to degenerate my school like this? What gives people the right to tear my school apart? What gives people the damn right to drag my school’s name in the mud?
They should put themselves in Mr Ras’s shoes and be principal for one day at Hoërskool Reynopark and I assure you they will not last that day.
However I’m not scared of being criticized, I stand for what I’m obligated too. This is not a damn democracy. We are in a state of emergency.
