The Q&A team event was hosted on May 30 at Witbank Yacht Club. Families and friends came by the dozens, entered in teams and took to the tables to compete in a general knowledge quiz with a hint of fun on the side.
Smartie Pints came in first place at the end of the night with 115 points, following them at 105 points were Wacker Pankers and in third place was Smarties on 100 points.
Uvaldi Brunke was the winner of the raffle for the Springbok Office Chair sponsored by Kay’s Interiors and Dan Robinson took home the electric sander sponsored by Timber City. Ursula Schmidt took home an electric drill, also sponsored by Timber City.
Some quirky and fun answers from the evening included:
Q) What is the phobia Triskaidekaphobia? A) Fear of the number 13, however a team answered: ‘Fear of having triplets’!
Q) Who invented the game of rugby? A) William Web Ellis, someone doesn’t know their sporting history and gave – some rugby dude or Isaac Newton as an answer.
The Des Conway Fine Master took his job of raising funds for the SPCA very seriously and one woman was fined for not smoking in the smoking lounge, while two men were fined for smoking out in the cold when there was a smoking lounge.
