New mood set at Rhapsody’s
Good food, good music, a glass of wine of note and good company, the perfect combination for a delightful evening.
This is a combination created by Rhapsody’s.
They are not only renowned for their good selection of wine, mouth-watering food but added to the menu of delights is the band Mood Swing.

Don’t let appearances fool you, out of the very petite Ivy Ann van Rooyen’s comes a huge and powerful voice. Accompanied by the talented guitarist, Christiaan Lombard, this duo became an explosive hit at Rhapsody’s.
Imagine a husky Jazz voice taking Reggae music and turning it upside down.
Bob Marley was surely smiling when she sang ‘No Woman No Cry’ and a shiver surely ran down Rodriguez’s spine when Ivy made the hit ‘Sugarman’ her own. Couple that with Van Morrison’s hit ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ and modern songs she superbly performed, and you can only imagine the vibe’s golden thread that entwined the evening.
Ivy and Christiaan formed the band in 2007. They initially only performed cover songs, but it was not long before they started writing their own songs. Their first extended play will be ready soon.
You will always find a digital recorder close by Ivy.
Christiaan jokingly said if a song pops up in her head she never has a pen or paper at hand. On a more serious note he said she loses track of time and everything around her when she sits in front of the piano setting up her own lyrics.
Christiaan ‘grew up’ in front of a hi-fi. He is a self-confessed lover of Golden Oldies.
He transforms when his fingers slide over the guitar strings. Just like Ivy he gets lost in time as he lives himself into each song he plays.
Both these two extremely talented artists hail from Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog.
Lucky Fanourakis, co-owner of Rhapsody’s said he can clearly remember the day Ivy and Christiaan met up with him in the restaurant.
“This tiny girl said she could sing, and her boyfriend said he can kind of play guitar. I have met a lot of artists in my career and was a bit reluctant to get anyone ‘unknown’ to perform in our restaurant.
I asked her for a CD I could listen to and she said: ‘this is it, I am here and I can perform for you right now’. That is how Ivy and Christiaan became instant family of Rhapsody’s. The moment she sang that first note I was blown away,” Lucky said.
Make sure you do not miss Mood Swing as they perform at Rhapsody’s every Saturday night from 19:30.
