NFP mourns party president’s death

NFP leader Zanele KaMagwaza-Msibi passes on

NATIONAL Freedom Party (NFP) president Zanele KaMagwaza-Msibi (59) passed away this (Monday) morning at Umhlanga Hospital.

The news of her passing was confirmed by NFP MP and close ally Achmed Shaik Emam.

‘The National Freedom Party notes with sadness the untimely passing of our leader and president VZ Magwaza-Msibi who died today,’ he said.

The former IFP national chairperson, KaMagwaza-Msibi formed her breakaway party the NFP in 2011, and the party successfully contested the local government election that year. After the election she was elected as Zululand Mayor.

In 2014, after the general elections, Magwaza-Msibi resigned as Zululand Mayor to lead the NFP in Parliament.

On 25 May 2014, President Jacob Zuma notified Magwaza-Msibi of his intention to appoint her as Deputy Minister of Science & Technology.
