MEC Dube-Ncube seeks public input for State of KZN Economy Address

What should be done to grow the economy of the province? Which sector of the economy must receive more attention?

‘WHAT should we do to drive rural and township economy?’

This is among a list of questions posed by MEC of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Nomusa Dube-Ncube to the people of the province ahead of the State of the KZN Economy Address next week.

The MEC, who will present the Budget Vote during the virtual sitting of the KZN Legislature on Tuesday, has encouraged members of the public to share their views via email or WhatsApp for the drafting of the speech.

‘As an elected public representative, I understand that I represent the aspirations of the millions of people across all corners of the province of KZN.

‘It is for these reasons that I am inviting the people of this province to contribute towards the drafting of this Budget Speech,’ she said.

When sending your input, you are requested to state your name, area where you live, as well as your contact details.

Submissions must be guided by the following:
* What should be done to grow the economy of the province?
* Which sector of the economy must receive more attention?
* Do you think entrepreneurship revolution could be the answer?
* Any tips on the roll-out of digital infrastructure?
* As we rebuild our economy we have said all entities under the department must ensure that entrepreneurs across all corners of the province have access to finance. Tell us what your view is around that.

‘As the department we want to achieve equality, create jobs and reduce poverty and most importantly, we want to remove obstacles to transformation, including lack of funding and market access for new entrants and black businesses,’ Dube-Ncube said.
