Inspirational breakfast encourages natural beauty
Plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr Mariëtte Mouton, is passionate about helping women embrace their natural beauty.
There is power in collaboration.
This was the sentiment shared by Melomed Private Hospitals Richards Bay plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr Mariëtte Mouton, at her Elevated Beauty breakfast on Monday.
An elegant event held at Audi Centre Richards Bay, the ladies were encouraged to embrace their natural beauty by wearing cool and calm autumn tones.
Proving that magic happens when strong women come together, the guest list featured various professionals from the beauty and aestheticians profession to promote the aesthetic future.

Introduced by MC Suenette le Roux, Dr Mouton shared how she become a surgeon.
“I initially wanted to become an accountant. But a general practitioner did my appendectomy and left me with a terrible scar,” she recalled.
Unbeknown to her, it was that scar that changed her destiny.
Speaking candidly about her faith, each post was not without her first consulting her Creator, which is how she found her way to Zululand.

“I am excited about what we can do in the region, regarding collaborating with other professionals and beauty therapists,” she explained.
“What each one of you is building is necessary and important, and Zululand needs you to be here.
“It is important to network and meet other women in the industry, and moments like this can inspire you.”

Dr Mouton’s role as a surgeon
As one of just five coloured female plastic surgeons in the country, Dr Mouton is an advocate for people, especially women cultivating a love for themselves before deciding to go under the knife.
“We need to be intentional with our wellness because beauty leads to confidence,” she urged.
“When you are comfortable in your own skin, you have confidence, which makes you powerful.
“The beauty industry has moved away from creating women who do not look like themselves.
“Our goal now is to make women look and feel more like themselves,” said Dr Mouton, who does everything, from cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery, to aesthetics.

The event took an emotional turn during the interactive Q and A segment when Dr Mouton’s colleague and friend, Dr Kinua Monga, took the mic.
“I believe you are doing the Lord’s work, you are always on time. Your passion and dedication to your patients is truly inspiring. Can you please share with us what drives you?”
With tears in her eyes, Dr Mouton said, “My passion is for women to know they have value, and they matter.
“I draw my power from the Lord because He has placed me where I am, and has given me the capabilities and passion to do what I do.”
“We would like to thank Melomed Private Hospitals Richards Bay, Audi Centre Richards Bay, Your Flowers Events, Pathcare Laboratories, Morton and Partners for contributing to the event’s success,” she concluded.
