Teachers cuffed for fraud

Zululand teachers arrested for allegedly teaching with fake qualifications

LAST week members of the Durban Commercial Crime Unit arrested two teachers for fraud valued at over R500 000.

These self proclaimed teachers were arrested for being in possession of fake teaching qualifications.

A 28 year-old primary school teacher of KwaNyuswa admitted to having a qualification from the University of Port Elizabeth; as for his employment in 2009, his accumulated remuneration totalled R304 955.

A woman aged 38 of the Ntondweni area in KwaMsane was also arrested on the same grounds claiming to have studied and qualified from the University of Zululand. Similarly, another fraudulent primary school teacher, during her period of employment, accumulated R211 243.

Both fraudulent teachers have been released on warning and are to appear in court on 30 September.
