
ALBERTUS Marthinus Barnard Creighton, better known as ‘Barney’, was born in Bethlehem, Free State on 28 November 1944.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to countless people – he passed away peacefully at Ladysmith’s La Verna Hospital on 30 October after a short illness
In 1972, he completed his B Comm Degree at Potchefstroom University and in 1991 his Master’s degree in Public Administration.
He was subsequently appointed Town Clerk of Mtunzini between 1977 and 1990.
Creighton then took up the post of Town Clerk at Jeffreys Bay between 1991 and 1992.
But he returned to Zululand the same year when he was appointed CEO of the Zululand Joint Services Board, known as the uThungulu District Municipality – a post he held until 1998.
In the same year, Creighton took up the post as Corporate Manager at the Big 5 False Bay Municipality.
A life well lived, he will be sorely missed by all.
He is survived by his wife Anita, sons Barney Jnr and Almar, stepdaughters Cathy and Tanya and six grandchildren – Zoe-Anne, Reuben-John, Camilla-Jean, Sh’China, Dylan and Kenrick.
