WATCH: Help needed to finish Richards Bay place of safety for GBV victims

Zululanders encouraged to support Eagles Wings Shelter in Mzingazi to join fight against domestic violence and abuse of women and children

With just the finishing touches left to complete the Eagles Wings Shelter for abused women and children, founder Sharon Mdletshe is making a final appeal to businesses and community members to assist.

The community worker has stayed committed to the project for nine years and would like to have the centre opened before the start of this year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign in November.

In 2016, after leaving the Richards Bay Police Station where she served as a volunteer at the trauma room for many years, Mdletshe donated part of her property in Mzingazi to establish the shelter.

Since 1996, she has been involved in the CPF, led food parcel and school shoe drives, hosted children’s Christmas parties, and empowered local women through community initiatives.

Despite surviving a traumatic shooting in 2010, Mdletshe continues to dedicate her life to uplifting and supporting the Mzingazi community.

To assist Sharon with completing the finishing touches to Eagles Wings Shelter, contact her on 083 8723384.
