Crafters launch new product line

eShowe gallery boasts African crafts

THE Mpilonhle Sanctuary Organizasion has launched its new product line at the Beautiful Things Gallery in the Fort Nongqayi Museum Village, eShowe.

The initiative is supported by the US Ambassador’s HIV and Aids Community Grants Programme assists small community-run projects across South Africa.

In previous years they have received funding for equipment and setting up halfway houses for orphaned and vulnerable children.

This year the focus was on sustainability and enabling Mpilonhle to develop a product range that would support their community’s care efforts by generating income through the sale of high quality craft.

Community caregivers attended a training programme throughout the year and have diligently worked at perfecting their craft and improving their ability to earn an income to support the vital work they do in caring for orphaned and vulnerable children.
