KZN Cogta MEC calls for unity among amaKhosi

Buthelezi highlighted the need for Traditional Councils to develop comprehensive master plans

KZN Cogta MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi has emphasised the importance of unity, strategic planning and collaboration among amaKhosi to strengthen the institution of traditional leadership across the province.

Addressing a strategic planning session hosted by the KZN Provincial House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders in the Drakensberg, Buthelezi described the gathering as a meaningful engagement aimed at advancing the role of traditional leadership in governance and community development.

He reaffirmed that the institution remains a vital pillar within the constitutional framework of both KZN and South Africa.

“Amakhosi must continue working together in unity to ensure traditional leadership remains strong, respected and responsive to the needs of our communities,” he said.

During the session, Buthelezi highlighted the need for Traditional Councils to develop comprehensive master plans, including the clear demarcation and mapping of areas under their jurisdiction.

This process, he noted, would improve land management, governance coordination, and socio-economic development.

He also stressed that land occupied under traditional leadership must be strategically managed to unlock development opportunities and boost economic participation for traditional communities.
