Solar power training for students

A project to assist and train electrical engineering students

CONTRIBUTING to energy saving, uMfolozi FET College students worked with electrical technicians from Korea to install solar power at eSikhawini Campus this week.

The project will assist and train Electrical Engineering NCV and Report 191 students and will be completed in February next year.

The Mandeni Campus will also benefit from the project.

Korean Electrical Technician Shin Kyungwoo said 100KW of electricity will be supplied to the campus. “I am very happy to work with such intelligent students. Many of them have shown good listening skills and are team players,” said Kyungwoo.

Brian Lamb, an Electrical Engineering lecturer at eShowe Campus and retired engineer supervising the project, deemed this a good opportunity for students who would acquire a lot of knowledge and skills.

“It is good the students will receive experience and training. I am happy the college will save electricity which will contribute to the green effect,’ he said.
