UMKHANYAKUDE women in various cooperatives graduated after completing their garment-making course at Thubelihle Skills Centre last Friday.
The project, funded by the Department of Economic Development invited women around the district with a passion for sewing to do the course.
They were taught to make school uniforms, work wear, pillow cases and sheets.
Project coordinator Nonhlanhla Mnguni commended them for their diligence and perseverance throughout their training which started in November last year.
Student Ntombi Mbuyazi said she was looking forward to supplying garments to local schools and companies and to create her own income.
‘We all don’t want to be poor, and I am happy to have the skill that will help me and improve my life,’ she said
uMkhanyakude Corporative District Manager Lethu Mkhonza advised students to be business minded and use their talents and skills to create their own businesses
