Whirlwind Valentine’s Day foretaste

Bay couple's whirlwind engagement

IT wasn’t perhaps a whirlwind courtship, but few women would have had as breathless an engagement proposal as Richards Bay’s Megan Serrao.

Megan was whisked off to Cape Town last Saturday to accompany boyfriend Chris Prinsloo to a ‘job interview’.

‘We drove down early in the morning to King Shaka airport and jumped on the 7.30am plane, landing at 9.30am.

‘I had arranged for a taxi to pick us up, intending to take her to the top of Table Mountain but the weather prevented this,’ said the romantic Chris, a restaurant manager at the Tuzi Gazi Waterfront.

‘Instead we went to Camps Bay where I made a fake call, telling the prospective employer where we were.

‘I managed to take Megan across the sand to a centre point on the rocks, where I went down on my knees…and forgot all the nice words I had planned over and over again!

‘But she said ‘yes’, so that’s all that mattered!’

The couple spent the next few hours in Cape Town, jetted back to Durban and completed the drive to Richards Bay, all in the space of a single day – one that Megan will never forget.
