Emergency services responded to an accident near Mtuba this morning

Thirty people have been injured in a three car pile-up near Mtubatuba this morning.

Medics from KZN Emergency Medical Services responded to the accident on the N2 at Bhoboza crossing.

Robert Mckenzie from KZN EMS said there was a ‘collision between two minibuses and a light motor car’.

‘A total of 30 people have been injured in the accident, of the people injured at least 26 of them were school children being transported to school,’ he said.

There were no fatalities.  Five of the patients sustained serious injuries and the children sustained minor injuries.

‘The patients were treated on scene before being transported to Ngwelezane hospital and a private hospital in Richards Bay for continued medical care,’ said Mckenzie.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and is being investigated by the police
