AFTER almost three years of leading the Round Table Empangeni 61, the team bid farewell to ex-chairman Eugene Oppenlander and welcomed the new Chairman and committee.
Last week, heartfelt messages of thanks and encouragement to both the outgoing and incoming Chairmen were shared.
‘Not only do I step down, but my Table career comes to an end too,’ said Round Table Empangeni 61 former Chairman Eugene Oppenlander.
‘I am blessed to have been part of such a great organisation, it has been truly incredible. They have been some of the best years in my life and I would not trade them for anything.
‘I am very proud to have served as Chairman and to the 56th Chairman and Lady and their incoming council, I wish you all the best and know that Empangeni 61 is in good hands,’ said Oppenlander.
The social networking charitable organisation inducted Phillip Barnes as their new Chairman with a new committee.
‘The work done by the outgoing Chairman and his wife has been nothing short of outstanding. I would like to thank the rest of the table for their confidence in me to lead them this year,’ said Round Table Empangeni 61 incoming Chairman Phillip Barnes.
‘I am sure every incoming Chairman has the idea of making his year the best Table has yet seen and it seems a lofty expectation considering all the esteemed gentlemen that have preceded him, so I am not going to say that.
‘Rather, I see myself merely as a link in the long chain of people who have worked incredibly hard to uphold the ideals Table stands for,’ said Barnes.
