King of the Castles world record attempt
A Guinness World Record attempt building sandcastles takes place this weekend at Durban's beachfront

EIGHT hundred employees and their families of financial services provider The Unlimited will bring their buckets and spades and attempt to build 2 400 sandcastles in one hour to set a new Guinness World Record on Saturday, 15 March at Durban’s Bay of Plenty beachfront.
This will smash the current record of 2 230 sandcastles, set by the German town of St. Peter-Ording on 13 July, 2013.
A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records will be flown in to adjudicate the record attempt, while a video production crew will film the live action for further authentication.
Guinness World Records has recognised record attempts since 1955 and the annual Guinness Book of World Records remains the best-selling copyrighted title of all times.
Former Springbok rugby player Stefan Terblanche, who played in 37 tests for South Africa, will also be picking up his spade to join the fun!
The day kicks off with a practise session at 9am, before the sand starts flying for the real deal at 9.30am.
After an hour of frantic sandcastle construction, the Guinness representative will start the adjudicating process before the announcement is made at 11.30am.
Everyone is invited to come to the Durban beachfront to support this amazing attempt.
