Zululand kickboxers crowned SA champs, prepare for Italy

Three Warriors Academy national kickboxing champions qualify for 2026 World Championships in Italy and seek sponsors for travel expenses.

RETURNING as national champs, three Warriors Fight and Fitness Academy kickboxing students are now gearing up to compete at the international world championships later this year.

Following their outstanding achievements, Aryan Govender, Stefan Swart and Aria Subramanien have now qualified to represent South Africa at the World Youth Kickboxing Championship 2026 in Italy from 18–27 September 2026, bringing together elite youth kickboxing talent from across the globe.

The trio were victorious at the SA Championships with Govender defending and retaining his title in the disciplines of point fighting and continuous since 2024 and achieving second place in kick light.

For Swart, after three years of competing he achieved championship status in point fighting and continuous while Subramanien, who made her first appearance at the championship competitions, achieved success in all three disciplines – point fighting, kick light and continuous.

Their coach and instructor, Shihan Kenneth Hana, commended all athletes on their achievements and encouraged the community to support the sport stars.

The team is currently seeking sponsors and support from businesses and community members to meet their target of R60 000 for travel and competition expenses as they prepare to compete on the international stage.
