AN ICONIC vehicle has been sold after serving Brian Digby for 37 years.
Brian, a builder, bought his bright yellow VW Kombi in November 1977 and the vehicle has been in use ever since.
He bought the vehicle from Natal Motor Industries in eShowe for the princely sum of R7 500, including interest on his Hire-Purchase.
The odometer has clicked over a few times and Brian has travelled widely, even attending Bisleys in Bloemfontein.
The 2-litre, air-cooled vehicle has been sold to Dash Motors in Durban who will be repairing the vehicle.
It is not known if they will retain signage on the ‘B Digby carpentry and repair specialist’ which is surely as famous as the vehicle itself.
Dash Motors also bought Brian’s 1975 1800 Kombi and all spares.
