Sport centre to keep Ntambanana Community fit

Construction on the Mvazana Indoor Sports Centre has begun.

THE Ntambanana Municipality Deputy Mayor Cllr Mbongiseni Chonco and his councillors earmarked the building of the Mvazana Indoor Sports Centre during the sod turning ceremony held on 17 February.

The centre, which is the municipality’s means of trying to keep its community fit and healthy, will be built in Ward 6.

It will take six months to be constructed, and the project will cost the municipality a hefty R4.5-million.

The Deputy Mayor, who is also the Ward 6 councillor, thanked the Mvazana community for their perseverance.

‘It’s true when they say perseverance is the mother of success. We all know you have waited for so long for this indoor sports centre to be built.’

Cllr Chonco urged his community to work hand in hand with the contractors, saying, ‘Since I became the ward councillor here you have never disappointed me by being involved in any kind of fraud.

‘Don’t buy any items stolen from the centre. Make it your duty to reprimand those who harass the contractors, as they are here to give us something which will improve our lives,’ urged Chonco.

The project will also give Mvazana community opportunities for piece jobs as contractors will employ local people for some of the work.
