Foundation banks on youth development

uThungulu Community Foundation on Friday handed over cash donations to three community-based organisations

WITH generous support from First National Bank, Richards Bay Branch, the uThungulu Community Foundation (UCF) on Friday handed over cash donations to three community-based organisations.

The ceremony took place at the Foundation’s offices at ZCBF Community Park in Alton, where CEO Chris Mkhize told grant recipients they had been selected out of 119 applicants that had applied for funding this year.

The beneficiaries were Okwethu Multi-Services, Lungelo Youth Development and Enactus – University of Zululand.

‘Okwethu Multi-Services trades in signage, printing, branding, banners, screen printing, business cards, heat pressure and embroidery,’ explained Mkhize.

‘Lungelo Youth Development creates an environment in which children are nurtured and protected. It also guides and grooms a boy child to know about abuse, crime and drugs.

‘Children are provided with early childhood development, education and training.

‘Enactus – University of Zululand promotes and develops values based on entrepreneurship in local communities, particularly at a local school level.

‘Participating schools are provided with practical skills to manage and sustain projects,’ said Mkhize.
