eSikhaleni water crisis resolved

Municipality responds to eSikhaleni 2-day water crisis.

AFTER two days of no water in eSikhaleni, the crisis was finally resolved.

Residents experienced difficulties last week after a major water pipe burst on Monday.

City of uMhlathuze officials acted promptly, attending to the damaged pipe and providing water tanks.

By Wednesday evening the water was reported back in most parts of the area.

‘We had two days of no water, and when it came back it was milky and appeared not clean to drink.

‘This caused so many problems for us as we had to cook, wash clothes and take baths,’ said H2 resident Thobile Ncanana.

According to the municipality, the damage was beyond their control.

‘We apologise for inconvenience caused by this emergency. The municipality has finished repairing the burst pipe,’ said spokesperson Mdu Ncalane.

He also appealed to the public to refrain from illegally connecting to the City’s water pipes.

‘This messes with our system and leads to water loss and disruptions,’ he said.
