UPDATE: Sasol responds to Alton gas leak
To avoid a recurrence of an incident of this nature, Sasol will engage all relevant stakeholders to raise awareness of the safety standards and procedures to be followed when operating near the gas pipeline.
SASOL has responded to the gas leak in Alton, Richards Bay yesterday morning.
‘Sasol’s gas pipeline in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal was accidentally ruptured in the early hours of Wednesday morning by municipal workers repairing a nearby leaking water pipe.
Emergency protocol was activated immediately and emergency services were dispatched to the scene. The situation was quickly brought under control.
No personnel were affected.
