EVERY bride’s worst nightmare is that something will go wrong before her wedding day.
For Richards Bay bride Nicole Smith this rang horribly true when her gown did not arrive the night before her big day.
After numerous calls and visits to the bridal boutique in Meerensee proved fruitless; Smith went on a frantic search to hire a garment for her 11am ceremony and had to fork out for the unexpected expense.
Adding to the drama was that her entourages’ dresses were also not completed to her satisfaction.
‘I could not believe what was unfolding, it is truly the worst experience ever.
‘Even though I contacted the boutique months before my wedding and paid in full before collection, up until a week before the wedding I had had not even had one fitting or seen the dress.
‘When I did eventually have a look at the gown just days leading up the wedding, I was so disappointed as it was far from complete and it did not even fit.
‘It is cruel to pretend and lie to people, especially when it concerns such a special occasion.
‘I was taken aback by her lack of remorse towards the matter and have opened a case with the Small Claims Court to recover my money,’ said Smith.
Meanwhile, responding to the incident, business owner Valerie Jacobs said she was not given enough time to complete the dress.
‘I had put her dress aside because she wanted the bridesmaids’ ones completed first and days before the wedding she decided she was not happy with her dress and wanted it changed.
‘I have never missed a deadline and I promised to pay back the deposit.
‘But since she has continued to harass me and run down my name I am seeking legal advice to handle the matter,’ said Jacobs.
