Three die in highway carnage
There were a number of fatalities and injuries on Zululand's roads during weekend crashes.
IN separate weekend crashes, three people tragically lost their lives on the N2 and R102.
On Friday afternoon, KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS) paramedics rushed to an accident on the national road near Mkhuze where a minibus taxi overturned.
One passenger was declared dead on scene and twelve others sustained injuries ranging from serious to critical.
They were transported to hospital for medical care.
At around 6.30pm on Saturday night, another fatal collision took place between a car and bakkie leaving two people dead on the R102 near KwaDukuza.
IPSS Rescue treated two others in a critical condition and the KwaDukuza Fire Department assisted with extricating bodies from the wreck.
Only an hour later, a taxi and bakkie crashed on the same road on the Groutville link road.
Fortunately, the 19 people were only moderately injured.
IPSS Rescue took five passengers to hospital with slight injuries.
