GALLERY: Elephant at Thula Thula pay amazing tribute
Photographer Kim Mcleod captured one of the most surreal moments of elephant behaviour at Thula Thula

A POST on the Thula Thula Private Game Reserve Facebook page has again served as a poignant reminder of the majesty the resident elephant hold.
‘Recently, the Thula Thula Elephant herd paid homage to Frankie (Francoise Malby-Anthony, MD of Thula Thula) at the main house,’ read the post.
‘Their behaviour was strangely unusual and had never been seen at the Main house before, kneeling down in an almost bow-like position facing Francoise at times, as well as lying down, sitting and rolling.’
Thula Thula staff believe the elephant were showing Francoise that they were happy and confident, and that they felt her love.
‘This all happened at the private entrance to Lawrence Anthony and Francoise’s home, in the exact spot the elephant used to gather when they visited Lawrence. No words can describe how incredible it was to witness this phenomenon.’
The elephant herd of Thula Thula have long been a source of amazement to wildlife experts and visitors, as their behaviour tends to defy normal interaction between humans and elephant.
