Guardian Angels bring comfort

Volunteers of the Guardian Angels Mtunzini donated 50 comfort bags to LifeLine Zululand for distribution to victims of abuse

MTUNZINI non-profit organisation Guardian Angels donated 50 comfort bags to LifeLine Zululand last Wednesday for distributions to victims of abuse.

The bags were sewn by senior citizens and community members provided toiletry items to put inside the bags.

The organisation of volunteers cares for the elderly, sick and lonely folk in their communities and offers transport to doctors, shops and hairdressers to those who cannot get there themselves.

According to volunteer Sheelagh Fosse, the senior citizens put much time and effort into the project and also knitted teddy bears and other items to include in the bags.

‘The community supported us immensely with this project and our fund-raisers,’ she said.

The Guardian Angels host a ‘social’ every Wednesday afternoon at the Anglican Church Hall in Mtunzini where people meet to chat and play chess, rummikub and cards.

Tea and coffee, sandwiches, cakes and entertainment are also provided.

A knitting programme is also underway where a group of ladies make amazing baby and toddler items, which will be donated to the needy in Mtunzini and surrounding areas.
