Milford set for home humdinger

Let’s fill the uMhlathuze Stadium in Richards Bay on Wednesday and support Milford FC

It’s going to be a nail-biter at the uMhlathuze Stadium on Wednesday afternoon as Milford FC host Magesi FC in a game that will go far in deciding which team will be playing in the new Betway Premiership season later this year.

The three-way promotion-relegation battle has seen both these sides win their first of four games, with Cape Town City twice being on the losing side; 0-1 to Milford at home and 0-2 to Magesi away.

The Citizens, despite their high aspirations, solid backing and decent squad, have really looked out of sorts, and their hopes are hanging on a thread after two defeats and no points on the mini-log.

Magesi looked sharp on Saturday as they put two past Cape Town, but they enjoyed a bigger home advantage than most with their good support base and an awkward pitch that visiting sides battle to come to terms with.

They won’t have such comforts in their away legs, especially in Richards Bay on Wednesday, when they will meet a Milford side that plays uncompromising football, with both passion and skill.

One trusts that the thousands of local fans who support the Natal Rich Boyz will come out in force to urge on our home town brothers, with so much at stake, and pose an intimidation factor that Magesi must deal with even before a ball is kicked.

Both teams have three points, but the visitors have a 2-1 ‘goals for’ advantage, so it’s all to play for at 3pm on Wednesday.

And the action doesn’t stop there!

Just three days later, on Saturday, Milford will come face-to-face with Cape Town City.

Two wins in a week will almost certainly make their PSL dreams come true.
