THE 23-year old Meerensee woman who was seriously injured in an attack in the Richards Bay CBD last Monday afternoon, is recovering well in the ICU of a Durban private hospital following emergency brain surgery.
‘Her doctors said it was a miracle that she was making such good progress,’ said her mother.
The family requested her name to be withheld.
‘They complimented the skills of the paramedic who accompanied her during her transfer from Netcare The Bay Hospital.
‘It was a big and serious operation and we are grateful that it is over.’
The woman sustained a skull fracture and brain haemorrhage when a brick was hurled at her by an unknown assailant.
The incident was allegedly sparked off when her boyfriend was tailed to the parking area by another driver and passenger after an altercation on the road.
The woman reportedly tried to intervene and was struck down by an assailant from the crowd which had gathered.
