SAPS unit relocates to new premises

SAPS has moved from 3rd Street, Empangeni to the plot adjacent to the eSikhaleni Police Station.

AS of last week, the Vehicle Investigation Service (VIS) unit of the SAPS has moved from 3rd Street, Empangeni to the plot adjacent to the eSikhaleni Police Station.

Reasons for the move include easier accessibility for the community, more available space for the impounding of vehicles under investigation and lower cost to the SAPS as the new premises are owned by the SAPS.

No changes were made to the unit’s team members and duties, and as of Monday the unit was fully operational.

The VIS unit operates throughout the most of Zululand, from Ulundi to KwaDukuza including Richards Bay, Gingindlovu and KwaMbonani and offers essential services, such as investigation of vehicle theft and hijackings as well as vehicle clearance upon sale or engine replacement.

‘We will be able to offer our community much better services from the new premises,’ said SAPS spokesperson for Empangeni, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose. ‘No matter how far away the case is, we won’t turn anyone away and are always willing to assist wherever we can.’
