Running for charity mission

Richards Bay runner raises funds for National Institute for the Deaf

CONQUERING her first Two Oceans Half Marathon while supporting her charity of choice, Richards Bay runner Jeanine Anderson raised a whopping R6700 for the National Institute for the Deaf (NID).

She was one of 50 runners who ran in support of the NID Run for the Deaf Campaign last month.

Jeanine, who enjoys living life on the adventurous side, competes in a variety of sports and outdoor activities with running at the top of her list.

She pledged to make a difference in the lives of those who are deaf and hearing impaired while tackling one of the country’s beautiful races.

‘I set my mind to do it and I am excited to have completed such an amazing experience and opportunity, all 21 kilometres of it.

‘The sights, scenery, route, people and the support from spectators along the way was magnificent.

‘I could not have done it without the support of the community and I am grateful for all the financial and moral support, everyone who contributed should take credit for their involvement in supporting a worthy cause,’ she said.

Meanwhile the NID thanked Jeanine for her support and the efforts she made to voluntary raise awareness of the work done by and through the National Institute for the Deaf while raising and contributing funds towards the campaign.
