eShowe campus closed indefinitely

College says issues have been addressed

THE eShowe Campus of the Umfolozi TVET College was closed on Wednesday following protest action.

About 20 students went on the rampage destroying college property.

Tensions have been high for a few days at the College as factions argue over the recent Student Representative Council elections.

In the latest incident, at around 5am, a vehicle was removed from the garages at the college and was set alight.

Other vehicles had their tyres slashed, while windows of various buildings, including the administration block, were broken.

The college management has announced that the college remains closed until further notice and students have been asked to leave the campus.

Management also says that the issues, which were raised by the students, have been addressed.

Details of the concerns of the students were not given, but it is believed to be due to, among others, last year’s examination results being withheld.
