Protesters block road to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park

The R618 is now open but the situation remains volatile

MOTORISTS are urged to stay away from the R618 between Mtubatuba and Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park (HiP), which was blocked by protesters and burning debris early this morning.

While the Public Order Policing (POP) unit has cleared the road, the situation remains volatile.

Reports from the scene are that the protesters are very angry.

Unconfirmed reports state the protesters are demanding work from the game reserve.

Some of the trucks that were used to block the road have been moved, but others that were locked and left without keys are still there.
