Suspected armed robbers arrested on the N2 near Mtubatuba

Four men were arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Pongola

FOUR men were yesterday (Sunday) arrested on the N2 at KwaMsane in connection with an armed business robbery that took place in Pongola.

During a routine patrol, KwaMsane police officers noticed a maroon vehicle with no number plates.

The officers followed the vehicle but, on seeing the police, the driver of the vehicle sped off.

Police gave chase and alerted other police stations to be on the lookout for the vehicle at Bhobosa bridge.

The vehicle was stopped and searched, and bags containing 50 cell phones and two firearms with 11 rounds of ammunition were seized.

The suspects were placed under arrest and charged with possession of suspected stolen property.

While the police were busy with the investigation, they received a phone call from Pongola police station reporting that the arrested suspects were involved in a business robbery that had taken place at a Pongola business premises, where cell phones were stolen.
