Since his passing, messages of support to the family have been flooding social media, with celebrities, royalty and the ordinary man on the street singing praises about his humanity and amazing talent.

Durban Gen star and Zululander Mthandeni Mbambo, who previously worked with Ferguson, described his passing as a ‘big blow to the entertainment industry’.

‘I’m truly heartbroken about the news because he was a person who gave me a big television break when he asked me to join the cast of his Mzansi Magic drama, Rockville.

‘He saw my talent in a competition and worked with me. He was a mentor and someone who inspired us all, especially after establishing Ferguson Films, which is the biggest production company in the country.

‘We recently messaged each other, and I had hopes we would work again in the future,’ said Mthandeni.

Ferguson made many television appearances in shows such as Generations, Isidingo and Scandal before he started his production company Ferguson Films with his wife, actress and producer Connie.

Together they produced shows such as five seasons of Rockville, Igazi, The Throne, The Herd, The Queen, The River and The Imposter.

He also featured and produced a feature film The Gift as well as a Netflix six-part series, Kings of Jo’burg.
