KZN Covid-19 infections on the rise

KZN recorded 2 289 and 1 796 new cases on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

THE KZN Department of Health has expressed concern over the rising numbers of Covid-19 infections in the province.

KZN recorded 2 289 and 1 796 new cases on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The province continues to rank the second-highest in terms of the number of laboratory-confirmed cases countrywide.

The average daily number of cases recorded in the past seven days was 1 648, increasing since 20 July, which was 717.

KZN continues to rank the fourth-highest in terms of fatalities countrywide, following the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and the Western Cape.

‘The number of daily hospital isolation cases increased steadily in both the private and public sectors, including ICU and patients requiring ventilation.

‘The average number of isolations increased from 52 to 120 admissions per day since the beginning of July (seven-day moving average),’ said the department in a statement.
