RBCT food parcel drive helps NGOs in need

Five local charities benefit from RBCT food parcel initiative 2021

RBCT’s 2021 food parcel drive has been met with immense gratitude, having enabled five local NPOs to continue caring for the needy.

‘Given where we find ourselves in time in terms of the recent riots and the looting that took place, as well as the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are just so many people and causes that are in need. That prompted us to become involved and try to do something different that would be meaningful.’RBCT Chief Executive Officer, Alan Waller

‘During this difficult time we reflected on and prioritised what NPOs could be struggling with. One of the reasons we chose the food parcel drive was to meet the basic needs of these NPOs so that their doors could remain open and be able to say yes to one more child and yes to one more elderly person to assist.’ General Manager: Human Resources, Nontuthuko Mgabhi

‘Our objective is to meet with five NPOs. The total contribution over the balance of this year will be in the region of half-a-million rand. It is really an amazing experience to be part of this.’ RBCT Chief Executive Officer, Alan Waller

The majority of NPOs that RBCT deal with provide shelter to people who are in need, whether it be orphans, abused parties, individuals suffering with the effects of HIV and Aids and the elderly.

‘In terms of what’s been achieved today is just a small indication of what one company can do. It’s a drop in the ocean to what is needed in our society. It’s a message that if each of us become involved collectively, we can really make a meaningful contribution to society and to the country at large.’ RBCT Chief Executive Officer, Alan Waller
