Dangerous man behind bars

Fisokuhle Ntuli was on Tuesday handed a hefty sentence by the eSikhaleni Regional Court

FOUND guilty in October of six counts of murder, among other charges, Fisokuhle Ntuli was on Tuesday handed a hefty sentence by the eSikhaleni Regional Court.

As well as the six murder charges, Ntuli (32) was found guilty of one attempted murder, and possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition.
He was sentenced to six life terms behind bars for the murders, plus 39 years for the other crimes.

Ntuli was accused of shooting to death Bheki Nyembe in 2015, and attempting to kill Nyembe’s wife, Nolwazi Mngomezulu, on the same day.

In 2016, he shot and killed siblings Sibusiso and Mcebisi Zulu, and Sibusiso Elvis Zulu, who were all witnesses in the Nyembe murder case.

He was also accused of killing Sandisa Mahlobo in 2016, and Sphamandla Zungu in 2018.

All the murders were committed in the Nongoma area.

Representing the State, deputy director of public prosecutions Advocate Cyril Selepe led the evidence of eyewitnesses, as well as ballistics, and testimonies of Saps officials.

Advocate Selepe also handed in victim impact statements, facilitated by court preparation officer Ntombi Chonco, and compiled by the victims’ family members.

The statements all told of the horrific and violent manner in which the victims were killed, with the family members saying Ntuli had no right to take the lives of their loved ones.

Further, they described the emotional and financial hardships they have had to encounter owing to the loss of these breadwinners.
At the sentencing, Magistrate PES Madida mentioned Ntuli must only be considered for parole after serving 25 years in prison.
