uMfolozi TVET College pre-graduation and diploma ceremony 2023

Pre-graduation ceremony encourages hundreds of students

UMFOLOZI TVET College proudly hosted a pre-graduation and diploma ceremony at Sibusisiwe hall in Mandeni on Thursday and Friday, 11 and 12 May.

History was made as the college honoured more than 400 NC(V) students who had successfully passed all their subjects from Level 2, as well as engineers who obtained their trade test.

In his speech, the deputy director-general responsible for TVET Colleges, Sam Zungu commended the graduates for working tirelessly to receive their qualifications.

He encouraged them to be open-minded when searching for employment, and to consider venturing into business or looking at the stream of agriculture, which needs a variety of trained individuals to function.

He also asked that, going forward, the college strives to produce more artisans to meet the country’s demand for scarce skills.

Speaking to the college marketing team after the graduation, Kriben Naicker thanked uMfolozi for recognising artisans for the first time, and said the initiative was ‘uplifting’ and ‘motivating’.

“It’s an honour to be recognised like any other graduate who finishes college. We spend many years with the aim of obtaining our trades; we hope uMfolozi will continue with the pre-graduation ceremony, which will encourage hundreds of students.”

Naicker completed his electrical trade in October and shortly thereafter became permanently employed as a maintenance electrician for Twinsaver in Cornubia.

Naicker plans to advance his skills in electrical engineering by getting his Government Certificate of Competency and his wireman’s licence.

uMfolozi College thanks all the sponsors of the 2023 graduation ceremony; everyone who worked tirelessly towards the success of the event, and the Graduation Committee led by Mr Ndumiso Majozi.
