Annual notification for carrying on of a business in the jurisdiction of the City of Umhlathuze: 2024

All business licences must be renewed before 31 January

You are hereby notified that in terms of the provisions of the Businesses Act (Act 71 of 1991), as amended, you are compelled to submit your annual renewal notice to the Licensing Authority by no later than 3pm on 31 January 2024.

All businesses whose licences have not been renewed by 31 January 2024, will be considered to be conducting a business without a valid business licence as contemplated in Section 2(3) of the Businesses Act (Act 71 of 1991), as amended.
The latter constitutes an offence in terms of the provisions of the said Act, and any person who contravenes the provisions of Section 2(3) thereof, shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to (1) payment of a maximum fine of R1 000 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months, or both; and (2) to an additional fine not exceeding R10 for every day on which the offence continues.

In view of the above, the municipality would highly appreciate your co-operation. A renewal application form can be obtained at the Richards Bay Civic Centre, Empangeni Civic Centre and on the municipal website.
