The Foskor Sulphuric Acid ‘B’ Plant start-up

The gas heat-up process began on 14 January, with the transition to sulphur production expected to take place on 22 January.

A planned statutory shutdown commenced on the 1st of November 2024 at Foskor Sulphuric Acid B Plant. The gas heat-up process began on the 14th of January 2025, with the transition to sulphur production expected to take place on the 22nd of January 2025.

A visible plume of water vapour might be evident, which is a byproduct of the Sasol gas burning process indicating plant’s readiness for the Sulphur change-over. Consultation with local authorities will be undertaken prior to the start-up.

Key factors such as wind direction and other meteorological conditions and the time of day will be considered to minimise any potential public inconvenience. Should there be any changes to the heat-up process that affect the start-up date, these will be communicated accordingly.
