World Cup: Spoils shared in entertaining Group F fixture
Sparks aplenty but no goals in this high-energy Group F fixture

THERE were plenty of sparks but no explosion as Morocco and Croatia played to a goalless draw on Wednesday afternoon.
Both teams created numerous chances, with Croatia doing most of the inventive stuff but Morocco answering that with energy and enthusiasm.
Central to proceedings was the amazing Luca Modric, who at 37 years old shows no signs of tiring – if anything, he looked the fittest man on the field.
Playing in his fourth World Cup, Modric was here, there and everywhere in a high energy, competitive and uncompromising encounter.
It was all Croatia at the start, as the 2018 runners-up dictated play but Morocco grew into the game as both teams created chances.
A pivotal moment late in the first half was the tremendous save off his legs by keeper Yassine Bounou, to keep the Atlas Lions on equal footing.
Their well organised defence was also a big factor in stemming the tide of Croatian attacks, with a ‘road closed’ sign being posted in front of their well-guarded goals as the game proceeded.
However, the final, frantic few minutes saw both sides throw caution to the wind in search of the elusive goal.
It wasn’t to be, and Morocco will be happier with the one point than will the Croats as the 0-0 score line was captured in the entertaining Group F encounter.
